The game follows the story of a scientist named Wilson who finds himself in a dark and gloomy world and must survive as long as possible. With this in mind, the player must keep Wilson healthy, without hunger, and mentally stable while avoiding a variety of surreal and supernatural enemies that will try to kill him or eat him. The “Adventure” mode of the game adds more depth to the thin plot and confronts Wilson against the game’s antagonist, Maxwell. Apart from the character Wilson, the more you play, you unlock other characters that each have their Bonuses and weaknesses
What were they inspired to create the game Dont Starve ?
Following the study’s custom of experiencing a new genre with each release, Don’t Starve was the first attempt at the study with survival horror. It was conceived during an industry trend that consisted of putting players into a world with few instructions and the goal of survival. Dont Starve was influenced by Minecraft, the title that started this trend, as well as by filmmaker Tim Burton. The game was well received by the critics, who praised their original art style, music and the variety of ways in which the player can die.
The Characters represented in the Funko Pop Dont Starve
The first of the characters in the line of figures Funko Pop Dont Starve is the same Protagonist Wilson ( The Gentleman Scientist ), this is the first playable character available in Dont Starve and is the first character with a confirmed background story , which made him the main protagonist of the game. Wilson is an ingenious scientist with a good sense of humor. As a curiosity his peculiar hairstyle, this has the shape of “W”. Wilson being the established character, his health, hunger and sanity have predetermined values and has no problems. The only benefit of this character is his beard which grows faster than normal and serves in cold climates. His statistics make him a good complete character.
The second character to be unlocked:
Willow (The Firestarter) is the second unlockable character in the game when the player has obtained 160 XP. She is a young woman obsessed with fire (Piromania) and from there she gets her Special Power. Willow’s special powers are her immunity to Fire and her exclusive Lighter. When the player starts a game like Willow, they will start with a Lighter in their inventory. The Lighter works in a similar way to a torch, but with an infinite durability and a lower radius of light. It can be used to set fire to objects and provides light that can be used to survive the Night without being attacked by Charlie. Willow when she is near the fire, gradually restores her sanity, the bigger the fire the faster she will restore her sanity. She must be well close to a fire but thanks to her immunity she will not receive any harm.
The third character to be unlocked:
Wendy (The Bereaved) is the third character to unlock when playing and get 640 XP. Wendy has a Dark personality; she always relates everything (including herself) to death and how depressing life is. Due to his personality, he loses less Cordura in the Darkness or when he confronts Monsters. Wendy can summon the ghost of her late sister Abigail to help her in combat, which gives Wendy a more “passive” style of play, allowing her sister to deal with most threats and stay away of danger. To compensate for this bonus, Wendy herself does less damage in combat.
For last we have Webber
The last of this Funko Pop Dont Starve Collection is Webber (The Indigestible) is one of the exclusive characters for the DLC Reign of Giants. Webber is able to grow a beard made of silk. He has only 100 maximum sanity, but he has more Health and Hunger with 175 points each. Due to their appearance, the spiders will be neutral with him and they will be able to make friends, while the monsters hostile towards the spiders will be too. Webber’s style of play and strength are based on making friends with normally hostile monsters, living among them and using them as “bodyguards”.
As it is one of the characters that is not unlocked with XP, it has to be unlocked with specific steps. First the player has to find Webber’s skull then bury the skull inside a mound where a tomb is located. After that, a bolt of lightning will immediately hit the grave. Webber will rise from the mound and unlock. After this, numerous spiders will proceed to spawn in the grave, but killing them is not necessary to unblock Webber.
